Tonkatsu Ramen – Maru Ichi
Ordered Tonkatsu Ramen – pork and chicken soup with egg, chasu (roast pork), kikurage, and green onions, $7.98, cash only. These homemade noodles definitely taste different than the ramen I’m familiar with, but I can’t quite put my finger on what makes it different. Reminds me of spaghettini. The broth is very thick, but I like the addition of the egg. It’s already split open for you, and the yolk melts right away in the steamy broth. Kimchi is aplenty and completely free, nice addition to the ramen. There was no line when I came in on a weekday night. Lots of great places to eat in this plaza, and lots of parking too. Just note that there are two locations (the other is in Mountain View), so if you’re meeting someone, make sure you both are heading toward the intended location and not the other!
